Xoi Xeo( Sweet sticky rice)
You will never find anywhere many kinds of sticky rice or “Xoi” like Hanoi. “Xoi Xeo” is unique because of not only a sophisticated combination of ingredients and amazingly attractive with its bright yellow color but also its odd name. When draw breaks, you will certainly hear the voice of the seller, which seems like a symbol of Hanoi. The seller keeps “xoi xeo” warm in a bamboo basket which is carried on the shoulder or fastened behind the bicycle. It is a common dish for breakfast of student, or manual labors, even foreign visitors who wish to taste traditional food here owing to its rather low price, fulfillment and more importantly palatability. It is so weird that nobody knows where “Xoi Xeo”come from and why it comes with an odd name. In Vietnamese, “Xeo” implies a rude way when telling somebody to go away. In adverse, “Xoi Xeo” is always beloved by everyone, almost of people here are really into eating it on every single morning.
