When mentioning the city of Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak province) many people only remember the majestic mountains of Central Highlands, fertile red basalt soil, elephant racing festival … but forget about a unique culture. That is the specialty in Buon Ma Thuot.
Banh cuon with grilled meat
Mentioning the Central Highlands, often the images in their mind arethe majestic waterfalls and villages of many ethinic groups, but here there is another unique feature that is the world of attractive cuisine here, including banh cuon. Banh cuon with grilled meat is familiar but makes people feel fascinated.
The most famous banh cuon is Thanh Tri village outside Hanoi, also is a Hanoi traditional food, but if you go to 43 Tran Nhat Duat, Buon Me Thuot city to enjoy this unique type of banh cuon, it will be equally attractive. The food ordering is also very interesting, the number of customer come is the same as the number of dishes are served. If you would like to eat more, you have to wait for the next turn.
Banh cuon in Buon Me Thuot is made skillfully, thin white but crispy slices. however, rolling the cake is really fun. First, spread the cakes on the plate, then pick up cucumber, mango, pickles, herbs, and barbecue on top and then roll. Tourists who skillfully wrap, the cake will be beautiful. When eating will feel the spicy and sour taste, the fragrance combined harmonically.
Dried Pho Gia Lai
In 2012, I have known to dried pho through information about Vietnam food tour. Then I wondered, why was the dried pho? Look at the picture, it does not look like pho, but looks like noodles? Why is the broth eaten separately? All question had been answered when I first came to Gia Lai I had to grope for the way toPho Hong in Pleiku city.
I called two-bowl pho because there is a bowl of pho mixed with minced meat, onions, chili, carrots, the other bowl looks like broth in the North with beef. At first sight at dried noodles, everyone here will think that it is the noodles of the South, but the difference between these noodles is that it is made from pure rice, so when poached, it will not be crushed. Bowls of noodle soup are sweet in flavor because of the pig bones and beef, with green onion and some slices of beef.
It is not enough to just mention to two bowls of this dish, it is not enough to make this dish so special because there is also a very important catalyst that is black soy sauce – the sauce is fermented with soy and yellow sugar, which only Gia Lai is the number 1. When eating black soy sauce to mix well with noodles, you will find difficult to stop eating. Eating dried noodles before taking a sip of broth, you feel the sweet and find easy to eat. Moreover, it becomes more delicious with the coriander, basil, salads and more to add flavor.
This dish is easy to make, so you can make yourself one bowl of pho in Vietnam cooking class.
Red noodles in Dak Lak
Coming to Buon Ma Thuot, but you do not once taste Dak Lak red noodles – the food as the pride of the people here, it is considered that you have never come to this city.
Red noodles are named after the color of the vermicelli. the vermicelli is similar to the noodle of the Central people but larger. In the beginning, they were pure white, but after boiled in the pot of broth made from the crab, pig bone and especially to added cashew nuts, the vermicelli is “dyed” to the red very eye-catching.
This dish is very similar to crab vermicelli- one of the specialties in Hanoi street food, but the crab is made from crab meat, pork and greens vegetables, and the eggs.
